Where you Born That Way

Steel work... Jim Lewis  and clerical worker Jim Springer. Identical twins separated five weeks after birth, they were raised by families 80 miles apart in Ohio. Reunited 39 years later, they would have strained the credulity of the editors of Ripley's Believe it or Not.
In talking with Chief Wallington Staats, of the Mohawks, at the presentation of a first edition of a 1804 copy of John's Gospel in Mohawk.
"People who are destroying the truth of the Gospel and accusing the church and Christians of destroying prehistoric, pre-Christian truth have never felt fear."
Revd John Sperry, President of the Canadian Bible Society, Spring 97

Changing names to change morality

in dealing with a broker recommending mortgage on whether to disclose the best offer for the customer or the agent. Is it best to tell the buyer the best one available for them or is it best to tell the one from which the agent makes the most. The name has now in some instances become introducer rather than advisor so that people assuage their guilt about telling something that they may know or at least suspect is less than the best product for the client.

Happiness a compendium

Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.
Addison, Joseph

True happiness arises, in the first place, from the enjoyment of one's self, and in the next, from the friendship and conversation of a few select companions.
Addison, Joseph

Three grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do, something to love, and something to hope for.
Addison, Joseph

Enough is never enough

There is something perverse about more than enough... A when we have more, we never have enough. It is always somewhere out there just out of reach. The more we acquire, the more elusive enough becomes.

Phil 4.11 I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content.

My Best Friend - Montey Slay

My Best Friend
When I was just a little boy He use to Play with me.
He would listen when I read a book or  just sit and watch T. V.
He would walk with me to school and comfort me when I was sad.
But then He would scold me when I was very bad
When I grew to be a young man and the wold grew larger each day.
He was constantly teaching me to be patient in every way.
And then I grew older and took a wife.
He enlightened me with wisdom to be the head of my home.
And then one day He spoke me when I was old and grey.
It was my Lord calling to me so we could go out and play.
I was again a little child where there is no fear and pain.
When you loved to lay on the grass and go put and play in the rain.
And now I am with Him where there is no end
It is my Lord, my master, my dearest, my best friend.

Cameron Townsend's Faith

“I remember the Day Mr. Townsend came into my office in 1945. He presented the most ridiculous plan I had ever heard.
He wanted to go into the jungle with a group of linguists. They were going to learn the languages of the people, form alphabets teach the people how to read and translate the Bible into those languages. He wanted my blessing on this impossible project. Our conversation went like this:

Blaise Pascal - Beliefs

People almost invariably arrive at their beliefs not on the basis of proof but on the basis of what they find attractive.De l'Art de persuader ("On the Art of Persuasion"), written 1658; published posthumously.
